Last week’s results, about the Anime Power Rankings
“1.
2. Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing-
3. Working 2
4. Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
5. Shinryaku!? Ika MusumeNothing deserved a first place vote from me, even if the new
Last Exile was the best thing I watched out of my lot of six shows. It
may be the only way I can protest against this season that has
meaning:(.”
-Emperor J (Lower Mid-Table)
I feel more and more that this season is just… average. Sure, you have a handful of watchable shows like Fate/Zero, Mirai Nikki, or Persona 4, but nothing has really captivated me yet, at least nothing new. Even Penguindrum is starting to grow old for some…
“Left [Mawaru] Penguindrum off the ballot 2nd consecutive week due to it continuing to dig a hole for itself with its lazy exploitative storytelling. I’m not saying it’s quite headed to being a trainwreck after a solid start quite yet, but I’m concerned. In a relatively weak week of episodes, Fate/Zero stood out due to finally having some solid action in it between all the talking. [Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!] trudges along as an enjoyable dumb comedy. The extended naked conversation gag in the 1st half of this week’s episode had me laughing pretty much continuously through the scene. [Mirai Nikki] this week started off pretty slow, but the plot developments near the end and continuing high production values keeps me impressed with the show.”

…but of course, all is not lost. Some voters are at least having a good time with a plethora of shows.
“1. Fate/Zero – Has the right balance to everything: Character development and depth, plot progression, action, animation, music. Can’t go wrong here.
2. Mawaru Penguindrum – Ikuhara sure is having a blast with his ridiculous crap. But it’s really, really entertaining crap.
3. Mirai Nikki – Yandere of the year
4. Chihayafuru – Gets a bit too corny at times, but otherwise pretty good
5. Last Exile – episode 2 escalated the situation a *bit* too fast, but it was still cool.Honorable Mentions:
Guilty Crown – biggest dissappointment of the year, but at least it looks pretty. All this means is that Noitamina just sucks with sci-fi series.
Bakuman 2 – woah, wait a sec, I’ve actually enjoyed every single episode so far? o_o;
Ben-to – first episode was meh, but it got surprisingly entertaining from then on.
Tamayura – slice of life, girls-being-too-nice-to-each-other, goodness on steroids.”-Tsuki (Emory Anime Club)

I wouldn’t say Fate/zero is No. 1, but it’s at least been more engaging than just about every other Type-Moon-related anime to be released. (Not that THAT’S difficult at all.) Saber in a suit doesn’t hurt, of course.

Still waiting on the white horse of the season to sweep all of us young, anime-watching maidens off our feet. Will it be Un-go? Mirai Nikki? HAGANAI???

This is the first time all five shows I voted for made the top five!

Another week where Phi Brain has failed to chart. It’s a conspiracy!

It got… like 2 points total lol

Quite surprised that Idolmaster made it to the bottom of the list. I thought the rage from The sight of Jupiter would be enough to tick the viewers off.

Oh it did. I usually vote Idolmaster 1st every week, voted for it as 3rd this week. It placed 7th but to be honest it wasn’t even close point-wise. :/
Next week! Makoto episode!

Woah, didn’t quite expect to be up there. Makes me wish I had thought things a bit more thoroughly before jotting down my random thoughts.
I mean, Fate/Zero doesn’t quite have the action part down yet… Still my favorite of the season though.
But hey, I can generally agree with that top list. Admittingly, I’m kind of surprised Idolmaster and Un-go are even up there. I thought the latest episode of Idolmaster was terrible, and Ungo just needs work. Maybe it’s just me…

Not too much to really complain about….
Maybe Penguindrum in the past two weeks hasn’t been hitting that perfect note, but I still see it as the best series of the season. Of course, I’ve only started watching Fate/Zero, so I guess I’ll see if my opinion changes by the next week…
Anyway, still good to see Chihayafuru up there because even after three episodes, it has yet to lose any steam. UN-GO had a very good second episode that made up for its first, so I’m glad it got recognized as well.

I feel bad for not picking up Chihayafuru or Un-go, haven’t had time to watch lots of shows. I should check it out and see what all the fuss is about!

chihayafuru is okay, but I only really like the karuta parts ww.
also the lack of any concern for horizon makes me sad ;_;
I hope episodes 4 and 5 will help bring its image up cause shit just hit the faaaaaaaannnnnnnn
