On the cusp: Last Exile, The iDOLM@STER
Last week’s results, about the Anime Power Rankings
This week’s Anime Power Rankings features Fate/zero solidifying its place at the top of the list. While shows like The iDOLM@STER, Working 2, and Last Exile are steadily surging, the much anticipated Guilty Crown and Persona 4: The Animation have fallen out of sight (no one voted either show above 5th place this week). Being a logical place to start, let’s start at the bottom and work our way up.
Un-Go has gone from mediocre to intriguing to damn-close to brilliant in three episodes. The whole mystery thing is just window dressing. So far it’s been shaping into an awesome sci-fi political conspiracy thriller. VERY surprised by this show since I had no clue what to expect from it other than “that kid has a fuzzy hat, what’s up with that?”
- Landon (Mecha Guignol)
I was fortunate enough to have the foresight to pick up this show. While I wasn’t impressed at first, the episodes simply got better and better. We don’t see a lot of good mystery flicks anymore.
Mirai Nikki, otherwise known as yandere fest supreme, continues to impress viewers with a thrilling and suspenseful plot. Yuri is also is scary as balls. Holy crap, I thought Higurashi was frightening.
Chihayafuru is this season’s Hanasaku Iroha, except with hardcore Karuta.
Mawaru Penguindrum shoots all the way to the top of my list with by far its best episode in a very long time. It was crazy, stupid, and over the top, but more than anything it was fun, and that silly lighthearted fun is exactly what this show has been lacking for too long.
Fate/Zero remained solid, and this latest episode probably had the most and best action in the show so far. However, the fact that, plot-wise, pretty much nothing happened or changed detracts from the episode.

You’re also forgetting that Fate/Zero has a character named WAVER VELVET. I picked the show up myself this week. It’s quite entertaining, despite myself not knowing anything about the F/sn universe.
Notes and trivia for this week:
* Shinryaku!? Ika Musume is on hiatus and was not on the ballot this week
* Shows that netted zero votes this week include Mashiro-iro Symphony, CubexCursedxCurious, Nurarihyon no Mago: Sennen Makyou, and Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle.
* SnippetTee (Lemmas and Submodalities) was the only voter to select the five shows on the Anime Power Rankings this week.
* The last time both noitaminA shows were featured on a week’s Anime Power Rankings was during the week ending August 7th, 2011.

Haha, I know how you feel. I actually sent in my ballot an hour or so late.
While I was watching Carnival Phantasm, for some reason I randomly remembered that I needed to send in the email… >_>;

I feel kinda bad enough sending everyone a mass email, then poking them on Twitter the day before… I’ll see what I can do.
@Tsuki: I took your vote.

Phi Brain is cruelly overlooked once again! Mostly my fault since I forgot to send the email after writing it. ._. (Also this week’s episode was a bit stupid.) My votes would have been Future Diary, Penguindrum, Chihayafuru, Phi Brain, Persona 4, by the way, from top to bottom.

Surprisingly, I had go to campus just to watch Fate zero and send the rankings on time because the snow storm knocked out my power, but it’s definitely worth it.

Struck out entirely with my ballot. Perhaps that’s a sign I should be watching something else.

No one wants to admit Guilty Crown turned out shit even after they hyped it to be the next Code Geass, whereas 3/4 of the people watching P4 haven’t played the game or are waiting for Rise ww
