Anime Blogger Interrogation Game

“Why don’t you have a seat over there?”

- Each person is supposed to follow the rule of fives. You are allowed to ask 5 questions, after which you can tag up to 5 bloggers by hyper-linking to their blog; 5 questions because it’s not too many to flood another blogger and occupy too much of his/her time, but yet a large enough number to ask your most important questions, and 5 bloggers to avoid spamming. Hence, prioritize your questions, and who you wish to ask!
- Those tagged are obliged to answer the questions in a blog post, and after which, they are entitled to create their own 5 questions and tag 5 other bloggers, so on and so fourth. You should answer your own 5 questions as well. You are allowed to tag the person that tagged you in the first place. Also, copy and paste this section on your blog so others can understand how the game goes.
- In the case where a blogger strongly refuses to answer a question, he/she must instead post a nice anime image, wallpaper or cosplay picture, et cetera in response to that question.
- To make things interesting, a blogger can include wildcards in his/her 5 questions by placing an asterisk, (*), after which those tagged are obliged to reveal something interesting about themselves that others did not previously know. There is no limit to the number of asterisks one can place (which means there can be up to 5 wildcard questions).
- Anyone can feel free to start the game; you don’t necessarily need someone to tag you. Just create your 5 questions and tag your 5 people of choice. However, the catch is that you must answer your own 5 questions as well.
- To potentially prevent an endless game, this round of games will end on the 8th September 2012, 12pm JST (GMT +9). After which, no more bloggers can tag others to answer their questions.
1. What was the first anime you have ever watched? How do you think you would review it now?
The first anime I ever watched as an anime (downloaded, in Japanese, not on TV) was Rozen Maiden. It was while Suiseiseki was really popular on 4chan and I wanted to see what the hubbub was about. I fell in love. I watched that show so many times and I was hooked into anime in a flash. Then I watched School Rumble and I love that too. This new thing called anime was so cool! I watched and rewatched all those shows and before you know it, I was hopelessly addicted.
I’m pretty sure I’d think those shows were average now, but one day a few years ago I had this insane craving to rewatch Rozen Maiden and I still really enjoyed it. Show’s got its problems, but the characters are quite compelling and it does a good job with its storytelling.
2. Which novel or videogame would you like to see adapted into an anime?
Ace Combat would make such a kick-ass anime. Also the Harvest Moon franchise deserves an anime as well.
3. If you could be a Pokemon, which one would you be?
I’d be one of the legendary birds, probably Ho-oh or something because then I can fly around and no one ever bothers me. Ho-oh is such a baller. He don’t give a fuck.
4. What is the most important thing you want to communicate to your audience?
I can be crass, sarcastic, or satirical at times, but I do have a passion for serious editorial writing. It takes a while for me, but afterward I feel like I really accomplished something great. I was never taught how to write; when I was little I read newspapers and magazines. In fact, I hated writing for school. But when I have something I am truly passionate about, I find that words just fall straight from my brain. That’s what I want to capture when I write. Sometimes it’s undistilled trolling, but that’s my point of view. After all, blogs are gifts to their readers — the gift of seeing the world from someone else’s point of view.
5. How do you feel about anime elitism? (Trying to find every fault within an anime).
This is some crazy coincidence because I literally started drafting this post earlier today without knowledge of this game. I will have “A Treatise on Cynicism” up sometime next week, so check back! The long and short of it is that while I understand elitism as a phenomenon, it doesn’t fit with my philosophy on criticism. After all, are we not anime fans? Why do yourself a disservice by turning down a chance to discover something new by viewing anime from a lens of cynicism?
My questions for you:
1. What inspired you to start blogging about anime?
2. What’s one anime that you’ve always wanted to watch, but you haven’t had the chance?
3. Name one anime song that you secretly love, but it’s super embarrassing.
4. What was the best season of anime that you ever experienced?
5. What do your friends and family think about your hobby?
Of course, ittadakimasu!
1. What inspired you to start blogging about anime?
I think I started by writing reviews on MyAnimeList.net. I am an analytic person by nature, and when I get into something I like finding out the most I possibly can about it. Naturally, I started studying and learning all these things about anime — voice actors, studios, directors — it was a whole new world! As I became more and more informed about this silly world, I had to vent off my own thoughts and opinions somehow!
2. What’s one anime that you’ve always wanted to watch, but you haven’t had the chance?
Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I am interested, but I really have been so lazy about it. It’s like a million episodes aarrrgghhhh
3. Name one anime song that you secretly love, but it’s super embarrassing.
“Yuri Yura Rarara Yuru Yuri Dai Jiken”, the opening theme to the first season of Yuru Yuri. Oddly, I was just talking about it and listening to it last night. That song is so fruity, but I think we can all agree that it’s the pinnacle achievement of musical history.
4. What was the best season of anime that you ever experienced?
Probably Summer 2009. Bakemonogatari (spectacular), Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (pretty good), Sora no Manimani (solid), Spice and Wolf II (pretty good), and Needless (awesome) aired that season. It was the good part of Needless, too. The part with Pretty Girl Squad. Gems like Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan!! and Umineko no Naku Koro Ni also aired that season and made blogging rather entertaining. Also continuing from the spring season was the good parts of Hayate no Gotoku!! and Saki. Absolutely loaded season.
5. What do your friends and family think about your hobby?
My girlfriend somehow puts up with me. Some of my friends are anime fans, and I give them recommendations occasionally. I am apparently amazing at giving anime recommendations because all of them love what I recommend them. I think I got one of the hooked so deep into the Nasu-verse I have to throw him a rope or else he’ll drown. I don’t think my family knows how far down the rabbit hole I am, but they didn’t ask me any questions when I told them I was flying to California to go to a “convention”.

Although I was already in the process of writing a post in which I was tagged by someone else when your post came up, I still feel obliged to answer your questions, so I figure I’d leave my answers in the comments section.
1. What inspired you to start blogging about anime?
While I’ve loved writing for as long as I’ve loved anime (in my case, I was in and out of fandom because of college/university), I was never into anime fandom at the same time as my stint with blogging. I used to blog about world of warcraft, but when my interest in the game waned, I started getting into anime again, and by that point, it just made sense that I would start a blog. I wasn’t even aware of the existence of SCCSAV at that point.
2. What’s one anime that you’ve always wanted to watch, but you haven’t had the chance?
Monster. It’s pretty fucking long, but I’ve always been intrigued by the psychological aspect of that show. I tried watching the first episode in an attempt to marathon it over the span of a week, but I soon realized that it would be practically impossible for me watch the whole thing in one go without lasting emotional repurcussions.
3. Name one anime song that you secretly love, but it’s super embarrassing.
Name a PreCure song. Any PreCure song. Except Smile’s second ED. Holy shit that song is way too embarassing, *and* it sucks.
4. What was the best season of anime that you ever experienced?
Off the top of my head, I would say 2010 Fall. It had Panty and Stocking, which was chock full of Gainax goodness. It had Star Driver, which was utterly FABULOUS. It had SoreMachi, which introduced me to the goddess that is Chiaki Omigawa. It had Kuragehime, which was fantastic in its own right, despite that horrid non-ending. It had Arakawa Under the Bridge, which provided me with the SHAFT comedy that I’ve been waiting for ever since Zetsubo-sensei. It had The World God Only Knows, whose source manga I had been reading for some time, and was superhyped for. It had Ore Imo, full stop. It had Ika Musume, which is one of the most purely fun shows I watched that year. It had the final stretch of Heartcatch PreCure, which finally enticed me into the fandom. Fall 2010 was a fantastic season, as far as I am concerned. Thank goodness APR didn’t exist back then. How the hell do you rank those shows each week? Goddamn.
5. What do your friends and family think about your hobby?
Friends? What friends? huehuehuehue. Nah, I joke. I met my friends through my anime club, so it’s their shared interest makes my hobby a non-issue. As for my family, they’re well-aware of my fondness for anime, though they’re probably not aware of my actual power level. For all they know, I’m into Naruto and all that adult swim stuff. Completely fine by me. Not sure what they would think about PreCure, though.

Hi there this is somewhat of off topic but I was wanting to know
if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML.
I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding skills so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!

Just start a WordPress. The technical expertise you need to post using WordPress is around the level you need for forumming. WordPress handles all the formatting, editing, and image integration you need. Just pick a theme you like and go.
As time went on, I tweaked my own theme to my liking, and that involved teaching myself a touch of php. Besides that, it was pretty simple to express my awful anime opinions to the world.
