Last week’s results about the Anime Power Rankings
Another fantastic episode of Tempest, featuring two dancing princesses in Aika and Hakaze. Seeing Aika actually be able to interact with the rest of the cast makes me sad that she was not around from the start. Though she was central to the plot, she never got to interact with the players themselves. Aika is simply fantastic and I’d say it’s Hanazawa Kana’s best role to date.
Nazarielle (The Shallow End)
>No moe shows in the top 3
> This week’s Tamako Market dropping three places
Come on, guys. This week’s had Anko!
With so many good series it seems like each week has me voting for a different batch of anime series. Sure there’s some overlap. This is yet another week that Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo sizzled it’s way up to number 2 and Psycho-pass had another rock solid episode as it builds to – hopefully – a grand finale. However, my number one pick this week, Zetsuen no Tempest, is the very first time I’m voting for this anime. This episode is the type of episode that retroactively makes the whole series worth watching and depending on how the ending plays out this anime might be one of Bones strongest series ever. Another new face is my pick for number 5 – Sasami-san@Ganbaranai. It’s been hard to get a read on what this series is but this last episode really drove home that it’s a great series, whatever it is. The last pick, Chihayafuru 2, at number 3 returns after a week where I didn’t vote for it with an Arata focused episode that once again reminded me how excellent this series is.
steelbound (The Null Set)
Shin Sekai Yori’s dungeon crawl continued into this week, one of the great things about SSY is how it can switch from psychological horror to adventure to scifi worldbuilding at the drop of a hat and excel at each of them. I loved this week’s GJ-bu too, especially the lovely Kyoloko, but SSY is hard to beat.
Sun Tzu (Sun Tzu Anime Blog)
Quite a few shows bringing their A-game to the table this week. Mondaiji-tachi deserves a mention for presenting its possibly best episode so far, with a debating session reminiscent of Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon and a promise of some serious ass-kicking to come next week. Likewise, Hyoubu Kyousuke gets back from its trip to the past and returns to what it does best – explosive esper fights.

It’s the first week I thought Tamako Market was great enough to deserve first place, and it drops three places? Weird.

Agreed. Anime bloggers obviously have bad taste.

And so the crown jewel of anime returns to its rightful spot on the rankings.

Eh I love JoJo but for me Tempest had a far more impactful episode not only on the ep itself but on the series as a whole.
Jojo this week was just more of the same which while I enjoy a hell of a lot

I feel your pain, as a watcher of non-moe and non-shonen battle animes. Everything I watch never even appear on tje cusp each week.
…
Does anyone even watches Bakuman?

In my case, I’m just way too behind on most of current season’s show. Most of the shows that I’m up-to-date are anime shorts, which, as you can see, rarely appears on the rankings.

You go to the link on top that says “Anime Power Rankings” and it give you directions on how you may get a ballot to vote each week.

It’s so sad to see Chihayafuru drop off the top 5, but that’s what happens when you focus the episode on Arata (i.e. nobody cares).

I watch this show for the drama, which is heavily dependent on its use of characters. If you focus on someone who is essentially a plot-device and provide very little character development, the episode will not be very compelling. This show excels when the spotlight is on Chihaya, Taichi, and/or the gang.
That being said, it was only a decent episode. Not bad, but not at its usual standards.
