Hello, everyone. Thank you for following our humble podcasting project at Desu ex Machina. For this week’s episode, we finally thought of a name! From now on, this is known as the Friday Anime Podcast, or FAP for short. After a lot of thinking, we decided that it would be more useful to actually post this on Fridays, so that the name makes sense and so the discussion is more up to date about weekend anime. Lessons learned. Anyway, enjoy this week’s episode, featuring Scamp from The Cart Driver as a special guest!

Hello, readers. This week has been quite nuts for me, so I apologize for the lack of updates. I have had the time, however, to keep an eye out for the new season coming up. Now that we’re a little more than a month out, let’s take our first peak at the Winter 2011/2012 anime season offerings.

Storm of the Century

Predicting what’s going to be good before a season starts airing is more of less a crap-shoot. The shows everyone hype up invariably become mediocre and two or three anime that were under everyone’s radar turn out to dominate the season. At least it’s fun to speculate and look back at how wrong we all were. Regardless, I’m unusually excited for this season, and that’s because of Nisemonogatari. Yeah, I know I’m not original, but I loved Bakemonogatari and I think Shinbou is due for another good anime. He’s not stretching himself thin with another season of Hidamari Sketch or Zetsubou Sensei or whatever, so I believe we’ll get a good treat this season. So that’s one show I will be picking up no matter what.

Severe Weather Warning

Another looks promising. I don’t really watch horror (I am a pansy bitch) but something about this show just looks absolutely captivating. It will at least look great; P.A Works is known for its impeccable animation quality, with examples ranging from Canaan to Angel Beats to Hanasaku Iroha. Mizushima Tsutomu is a proven and talented director and Outani Kou is doing the soundtrack, so I’m eager for the show to prove what it can do.
